Our Origins
I started skill.COVE because I wanted to consolidate my values and skills into a business that not only succeeds, but takes care of our future in the ways I feel capable. I not only want to empower the act of learning for my students, but also be an advocate for sustainable systems in this time of rapid global development. I believe that by being more conscious of systems and choices, we can have a greater positive impact on our world moving forward.

Our Core Values
skill.COVE and it's partner sites are founded on the principle that technology and quality learning should be accessible and affordable for all. In this new era of learning and tech we should all feel empowered. Keeping our skills relevant while maintaining our own systems can feel overwhelming. Especially when we are competing with big tech's ecosystems, but we are here to help you build your own alternatives.
We refuse to partner with any supporter of genocide / racist agendas.
We believe in the power of uplifting each other with equal access to a free internet and communal information resources.
We prioritize open source tools, privacy-first software, and technologies that respect learner autonomy / strive to be ecological.
We boycott the use of “unsustainable AI” in any of our classes because we believe education shouldn't rely on platforms that hurt the environment or monetize peoples data.

Our stance on AI
We acknowledge that AI is a powerful tool, but refuse ignore the ecological damage and privacy concerns behind big tech. We believe in a world with more critical thinkers that care about the planet. We value creativity and problem solving as essential skills. Skill.COVE does not rely on AI to function. If we choose to use AI minimally we exclusively work with Lumo or Thaura because of their strong ethics, privacy, and smaller carbon footprint.
